The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that voters in the state will make history by electing him as governor in the August 15 poll.

Oyebamiji made the declaration during a meeting with leaders and members of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, held in Osogbo.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the APC candidate was represented at the event by the Chairman of Civic Engagement of the APC Campaign Council, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.

Addressing members of the association, Oyebamiji expressed optimism that the people of Osun would turn out massively to support both him and the APC during the governorship election.

“History will be made on August 15 as I will be elected governor of the state. I am confident and hopeful in God and in you that it will be my day.

“History will also be made as Osun returns to the progressive path, and I count on you to make that happen,” he stated.

The APC candidate described governance as a serious responsibility, assuring residents that his administration would focus on delivering meaningful development and improving the welfare of the people.

According to him, his government would implement policies targeted at strengthening economic security, healthcare, education, and social protection while expanding social safety programmes aimed at reducing poverty across the state.

Oyebamiji further pledged to create opportunities for economic growth through support for small-scale enterprises, expansion of large businesses, capacity building initiatives, and infrastructural development.

He also assured members of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria that his administration would support their activities if elected, noting that telecommunications engineers play a vital role in economic and business development.

The APC flagbearer explained that his development blueprint, code-named “PROSPER,” would be fully implemented to improve living standards and drive sustainable growth in Osun State.

He urged residents to disregard what he described as false allegations and campaigns of calumny against him, insisting that his background and political journey have always been rooted in service to humanity.

Oyebamiji also commended the association for its support for the APC, promising that the confidence reposed in him would be rewarded with transparent and people-oriented governance.

“Vote for me and let us make history together. Your support will be rewarded through good governance.

“I will not disappoint you. Rather, I will deliver outcomes that future generations will be proud of,” he added.

Earlier at the meeting, the President of the association, Abdulrasaki Ejalonibu, assured the APC candidate of the group’s support during the election.

Ejalonibu said members appreciated the recognition given to them and praised the previous APC administration led by former Osun governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for supporting the association’s activities while in office.

He, however, urged Oyebamiji to fulfil his promises if elected governor.

“We assure you of our votes. Trust us, we will not betray you—do not betray us as well,” he said.

Political observers believe the Osun governorship election will be closely contested as political parties intensify campaigns and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.
