Governor Ademola Adeleke has fulfilled his promise to the family of the late Accord Party member, Aderogba, by relocating his widow, Mrs. Tolulope Aderogba, and her four children from Esa Oke to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, over security concerns following the killing.
The governor also approved full scholarships for the four children of the deceased, extending the gesture to a fifth child who was living with the Aderogba family at the time of the incident.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the relocation was carried out to ensure the safety, welfare, and continued care of the bereaved family.
The statement disclosed that upon arriving in Osogbo, Mrs. Aderogba required medical attention, prompting Governor Adeleke to direct that she receive immediate treatment, which is currently ongoing. The state government also provided accommodation for the family in the capital.
The relocation process was coordinated by the spokesperson to the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, alongside the member representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi. The relocation was completed on Friday evening following concerns over the family's safety.
Olajengbesi was also said to have made a generous donation to support the upkeep and welfare of the bereaved family.
Governor Adeleke later visited the family in their new residence and assured them that the state government would guarantee their safety while ensuring that those responsible for Aderogba's death are arrested and prosecuted.
The governor further raised concerns over reports that some residents of Esa Oke who supported the Accord Party were still being threatened, urging the police to take proactive measures to prevent further violence in the community.
"I am happy the widow and children are now fully secured here in the capital. We have made all arrangements for the schooling and other needs of the family. The state will ensure their safety, care, and justice for the late Aderogba," the governor said.
Governor Adeleke also disclosed that he is closely monitoring the implementation of directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police regarding the investigation into the killing.
"It is getting to 72 hours after the meeting. Forty-eight hours ago, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police also held an operational meeting with the service commanders in the state.
"We expect immediate action to implement the directives of the Inspector-General of Police. I hope that no police officer will defy the openly conveyed instructions and operational orders duly issued by the IGP," he added.
The governor again expressed condolences to the Aderogba family and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring justice is served.
