ABUJA, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a powerful message of gratitude and solidarity to Nigeria's front-line security forces, praising their resilience across difficult terrains and reaffirming the nation's unwavering resolve to defeat terrorism, banditry, and violent extremism.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces commended the joint efforts of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies, and local security formations

"You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities," President Tinubu stated, acknowledging the diverse and grueling environments where operatives deploy. "In the forests, on the roads, at forward operating bases, in the air, creeks, and across difficult terrains, you carry the burden of national protection so that millions of Nigerians can sleep, work, worship, farm, trade, and raise their children in hope."

Honoring Sacrifices and the Families Behind the Uniform

The President noted that the counter-insurgency campaign has come with deep personal pain, pressure, and immense sacrifice. He extended his appreciation not only to the personnel on the lines but also to the families left behind, who endure long absences and the emotional toll of their loved ones' national duty.

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price in service to the country, Tinubu emphasized that their contributions remain etched in the security of the territories they reclaimed.

"Their names may not always trend, but their courage lives on in rescued communities, protected families, and the survival of the nation they served," the President remarked.

A Call for Civil-Military Collaboration

Reiterating that the war on terror extends beyond military maneuvers, President Tinubu called on the Nigerian populace to actively participate in intelligence-gathering, emphasizing that civilian cooperation is vital to national security.

He urged citizens to adopt a proactive security mindset, stating: "The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it."

"Violence is Not Our Identity"

Closing his address with a firm rejection of the ideologies driving criminal elements across the country, the President maintained that Nigeria would never surrender to fear or allow non-state actors to dictate the national narrative.

"We will not allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists to define who we are as a people," Tinubu declared. "Their violence is not our identity. Their hatred does not represent Nigerians of any faith, creed, or community."

The statement concluded with a prayer for the continued safety and protection of the country's front-line patriots as they remain vigilant on the field.
