President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for the successful operation that led to the neutralisation of notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji, and the rescue of Hajia Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd).
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Presidency, Tinubu described the operation as a major victory in the fight against banditry and violent crime, particularly in Kogi State and neighbouring communities affected by criminal activities.
The President noted that Bastuji had long been linked to acts of violence, kidnapping, and attacks on innocent civilians, causing widespread fear and hardship among residents.
He said the successful operation would help restore confidence among affected communities and further weaken criminal networks operating within the region.
"I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals. Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place. This success reflects the renewed determination of our security forces to secure every inch of our land," President Tinubu stated.
The President also praised security operatives for the rescue of Hajia Amina Rabe Abubakar, describing the operation as a demonstration of professionalism, courage, and effective intelligence gathering.
According to him, the safe return of the widow of the late military officer has brought relief to her family and Nigerians who followed the development with concern.
"The safe return of Hajia Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and all Nigerians. I commend the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and personnel who carried out the rescue operation. We owe a debt of gratitude to our troops who risk their lives daily to keep us safe," the President added.
Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration's commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces through improved funding, training, logistics, and operational support to effectively combat banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the country.
He also urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to enhance national security.
The President reaffirmed that his government remains determined to rid the country of criminal elements and ensure the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.
