The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made firearm with live ammunition during a coordinated operation in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan.
The Command disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, that the operation was carried out by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit following credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected armed robbery gang operating from a hideout in the area.
According to the police, the early morning raid led to the arrest of Tomiwa Ayomide (28), Haruna Kabiru (32), and Haruna Hassan, popularly known as "Malo" (32).
A search of the suspects' apartment reportedly yielded one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges, which were recovered as exhibits.
The police said the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other criminal activities and to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected gang.
Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, the Oyo State Police Command urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime.
