The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Brayas Nanas after allegedly recovering a firearm concealed inside a loaf of bread during a security operation in the state.

According to police sources, the suspect was apprehended after officers discovered the weapon carefully hidden inside the bread, a method believed to have been used to evade security checks.

The arrest has raised concerns over the increasingly sophisticated tactics employed by individuals involved in the illegal movement of firearms.

The police have taken the suspect into custody, while the recovered firearm has been secured as evidence. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the weapon, its intended destination, and whether the suspect is linked to any criminal network operating within or outside Rivers State.

The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the proliferation of illegal firearms and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in combating crime.

Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
