The Osun State Police Command has cautioned political actors and their supporters against any attempt to forcefully take over local government secretariats following the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Osogbo concerning the lingering local government dispute in the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the Command said it had taken note of the court's decision in the legal battle involving the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the statement, the police are fully aware of the implications of the judgment and are closely monitoring the conduct, statements, and actions of all parties involved.

The Command emphasized that there are established legal procedures for enforcing court judgments and urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the rule of law.

"The rule of law remains the cornerstone of our democratic society, and it is imperative that all parties adhere strictly to the established legal procedures in seeking to enforce the said judgment," the statement read.

The police further warned against self-help and extrajudicial actions, stressing that any attempt to unlawfully occupy or take over local government offices and properties would not be tolerated.

"There will be no room for self-help or taking the law into one's hands. We specifically caution against any form of forceful takeover of local government premises, offices, or properties, as such actions are unlawful and counterproductive," the Command stated.

The Police Command appealed to political leaders, party supporters, and residents of the state to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, noting that any grievances arising from the judgment should be addressed through appropriate legal and judicial channels.

The statement also disclosed that security personnel have been placed on heightened alert across the state to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

"The Command will not hesitate to take decisive action against any individual or group that attempts to disrupt the peace or violate the law," it added.

The police assured residents of their commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment and ensuring that the rule of law prevails throughout the state.
