The Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi, has said the newly inaugurated Imole Media Centre in Osogbo will serve as a strategic hub for coordinating and publicising the activities of the campaign council ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Oyewumi made the disclosure on Sunday during the maiden press conference of the council held at the newly established Imole Media Centre located in the Government Reserved Area, Osogbo.
Addressing journalists at the event, the senator appreciated members of the media for what he described as their continued support and collaboration with the administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
“Democracy thrives when the media remains vibrant, courageous, fair and responsible. We acknowledge your critical role in deepening democratic values and sustaining constructive engagement between government and the governed,” he said.
Oyewumi explained that the media centre would operate under the supervision of the Media and Publicity Committee headed by Bamidele Salam.
According to him, the media strategy of the campaign council would focus on facts, truth, respectful communication, and active engagement while projecting the achievements of the Adeleke administration since assuming office.
He stated that the campaign council would remain focused on governance and development rather than engaging in what he described as “mundane, trivial or negative politics.”
Highlighting the administration’s financial management, Oyewumi disclosed that Osun State’s domestic debt profile had reduced from N148 billion in December 2022 to N83.3 billion by the first quarter of 2025.
He also revealed that the state’s external debt dropped from $91.7 million in 2022 to $75.1 million, while internally generated revenue increased significantly from N24.7 billion in 2022 to N58.7 billion in 2025.
“This is an indication of a clean bill of health for the state finances. The government has ensured digitalisation of revenue collection to streamline the tax structure and block leakages,” he said.
The TICC Director-General further stated that the Adeleke administration had cleared 18 months of inherited half-salary arrears owed workers and fully settled the 28-month contributory pension arrears owed retirees by the previous administration.
Speaking on infrastructure development, Oyewumi highlighted several projects executed under the current administration, including flyovers in Osogbo and Ile-Ife, dual carriageways in Ilesa, Ila-Orangun, Ede, and Iwo, as well as over 300 kilometres of roads constructed across the state.
“Today, commuting from Old Garage to Lameco has become a pleasurable experience through the dual carriageway delivered by this administration,” he added.
He also pointed to improvements in the education sector, noting that Osun State moved from 33rd position in the National Examinations Council rankings in 2022 to seventh position in both 2024 and 2025.
In agriculture, Oyewumi disclosed that the administration procured 31 tractors and distributed more than 440,000 cocoa seedlings, 80,000 palm seedlings, and 60,000 cashew seedlings to farmers across the state.
The senator further highlighted youth empowerment initiatives carried out by the administration, including recruitment into the teaching service, the Imole Youth Corps, and the Osun Amotekun Corps.
According to him, the Adeleke administration also repositioned Osun’s digital economy through the implementation of the state ICT policy and domestication of the Nigerian Startup Act.
On sports development, he noted that the ongoing remodelling of the Osogbo Township Stadium into an international-standard sporting complex would stimulate local businesses and create employment opportunities for residents.
Oyewumi additionally praised the administration’s healthcare reforms, particularly the revitalisation of 200 primary healthcare centres across the 332 electoral wards in Osun State.
He also unveiled the “Imole 2.0” five-point agenda of the campaign council, which focuses on youth and women empowerment, infrastructure consolidation, agro-industrial expansion, affordable healthcare and education, as well as an improved business environment to drive job creation.
The senator called on security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force, to remain neutral and professional during the governorship election.
“No political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen of Osun State,” he warned.
Oyewumi also cautioned against selective enforcement of the law, stressing that security agencies must avoid actions capable of creating tension or encouraging political violence in the state.
