The Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for offences ranging from armed robbery and one-chance robbery to cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and obtaining money by false pretence in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

The Command disclosed that the coordinated operations, carried out by operatives attached to the Ilaro Area Command and the Ibafo, Mowe, Adatan, and Ode-Remo Divisions, also led to the recovery of a stolen Toyota Venza, three firearms, a Toyota Camry used by a one-chance robbery syndicate, 17 stolen mobile phones, an HP EliteBook laptop, two expended cartridges, three power banks, a rechargeable touch light, and ₦1.1 million linked to a travel fraud case.

The suspects were identified as Bola Salau, 42; Segun Balogun, 25; Emmanuel Friday; Tunde Abioye; Ankpa James; Tunde Ogunseye, 41; and Owodunni Seun, 36.

According to the police, the operational successes reflect the Command's commitment under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, to intelligence-led policing, strategic crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property across Ogun State.

Stolen Toyota Venza Recovered in Ilaro

In one of the operations, operatives attached to the Ilaro Area Command intercepted a blue Toyota Venza during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Oja-Odan/Ilaro Road in the Olorunlekan area of Ilaro.

The occupants of the vehicle, Bola Salau and Segun Balogun, were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding ownership of the vehicle and were immediately taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of its original registration documents hidden beneath the carpet. Further investigation enabled detectives to trace the rightful owner in Ede, Osun State, who confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen during a violent armed robbery at his residence on June 23, 2026.

According to the victim, about five armed men invaded his home, robbed him and members of his family of valuables before fleeing with the Toyota Venza.

The vehicle has since been recovered, while investigations continue to determine the suspects' level of involvement and to apprehend other members of the robbery gang who remain at large.

Police Dismantle One-Chance Robbery Syndicate

In a separate operation, detectives attached to the Ibafo Division arrested two suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate operating around the Magboro axis.

The arrests followed a complaint by a female victim who reported that unknown men operating a one-chance vehicle dispossessed her of a Samsung A16 mobile phone valued at ₦295,000 and ₦120,000 in cash.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked the suspects to Freeway Hotel in Magboro, where Emmanuel Friday and Tunde Abioye were arrested.

A Toyota Camry allegedly used by the syndicate to perpetrate the robberies was recovered during the operation, while the victim positively identified both suspects.

The Ogun State Police Command said investigations are ongoing to arrest fleeing accomplices and dismantle the wider criminal networks connected to the various cases. The Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
