MODAKEKE, OSUN STATE — In a powerful push for political inclusion and representation, the Modakeke Political Deaf Group has officially appealed to the leadership and stakeholders of the Accord Party to field Hon. Tomiwa Babalola Alatunse as its candidate for the House of Representatives.

The group described Alatunse as a compassionate, people-oriented leader who possesses a deep, firsthand understanding of the unique struggles faced by persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

Years of Exclusion and Neglect

In a public statement released in Modakeke, the group expressed deep frustration over what they characterized as systematic neglect and structural exclusion by past and present lawmakers. They lamented that the deaf and dumb community in the region has long been left behind, suffering from a total lack of attention regarding welfare, empowerment, and social inclusion.

"We have suffered for years without adequate representation," the group noted, emphasizing that political promises made to vulnerable demographics are rarely kept once elections are over.

The Alatunse Distinction

However, the group expressed strong confidence that Hon. Tomiwa Babalola Alatunse represents a paradigm shift in local governance. They highlighted that his track record of philanthropy and accessibility to the disabled community predates his political ambition.

“We believe Hon. Tomiwa Babalola Alatunse will not abandon us. He has always shown compassion and concern for people living with disabilities. Unlike others who only remember us during elections, he has maintained a relationship with our community and understands our pains,” the statement read.

A Call for Humane Leadership

The group concluded their appeal by urging the Accord Party hierarchy to prioritize human-centric and inclusive leadership by giving Alatunse the ticket. They argued that endorsing his candidacy would send a strong message across Osun State that the party is genuinely committed to giving every segment of society a true sense of belonging.

The statement was officially endorsed and issued by the leadership of the Modakeke Political Deaf Group.
