The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the construction and rehabilitation of 27 road projects across 15 states of the federation, with a combined contract value of N3.9 trillion.
The approvals were granted during the Council's meeting held on Monday, as part of the Federal Government's ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across the country.
The approved projects are expected to boost transportation, facilitate the movement of goods and services, reduce travel time, and improve access to rural and urban communities.
According to the Federal Government, the road projects form part of its broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at modernising Nigeria's transport network and supporting national economic development.
The projects will span 15 states, covering the construction of new roads, rehabilitation of existing highways, and upgrades of critical transport corridors considered vital to commerce and regional integration.
With a total contract sum of N3.9 trillion, the projects rank among the largest road infrastructure approvals by the Federal Executive Council in recent times.
The government expressed confidence that the projects, upon completion, will improve road safety, create employment opportunities, and contribute significantly to economic activities in the benefiting states.
Further details, including the specific locations and contractors handling the projects, are expected to be released by the relevant ministries and agencies in due course.
