Serious allegations have emerged on social media accusing some personnel attached to the Depot Nigerian Army, Oke Baale, Osogbo, of allegedly invading a female hostel and assaulting students.
The claims, which have been circulating online, allege that the soldiers entered a female hostel located opposite the military depot and engaged in acts of harassment, theft, and sexual assault against some of the occupants.
One social media user, reacting to the reports, expressed shock over the allegations, stating that the incident was initially dismissed as a rumour before gaining wider attention.
The post further lamented that the personnel entrusted with protecting citizens were allegedly responsible for the reported misconduct.
As of the time of filing this report, the allegations remain unverified, and there has been no official statement from the Depot Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Army Headquarters, the Osun State Police Command, Osun State University (UNIOSUN), or any other relevant authority confirming or denying the claims.
Independent verification of the allegations has also not been possible.
Given the gravity of the claims, stakeholders are calling for a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the facts and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice, while also safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.
This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more credible information becomes available.
