The Abuja High Court has granted bail to human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in the sum of ₦200 million, with two sureties in like amount.
Justice Mohammed Umar, who presided over the case, ruled that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore's community, while the second surety must own a verified property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The court further directed that the property presented by the second surety must be duly verified before the bail conditions can be deemed satisfied.
The bail ruling comes as Sowore continues to face legal proceedings, with the court outlining the conditions to ensure his availability throughout the trial.
Neither Sowore nor his legal team immediately reacted to the court's decision at the time of filing this report.
The case has continued to attract significant public attention, given Sowore's prominence as a political activist, publisher, and former presidential candidate, as supporters and observers closely monitor the developments in the proceedings.
