The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Ogunsola Ojo, over his alleged involvement in the unlawful possession of a human skull, as investigations continue into the desecration of a grave in the state.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.

According to the police, the case was reported at the Oba-Ile Police Station on June 17, 2026, after a resident discovered that the grave of his late elder brother, located within the family compound, had been tampered with.

The complainant told police that during a visit to the grave on June 15, he found that the deceased's skull had been removed by unknown persons.

Following the report, detectives launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Ogunsola Ojo. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly implicated three other individuals identified as Ayeloja Lattef, 40, Azeez Rasheed, 50, and Kunle Fatai, who is currently on the run.

Police said a subsequent search at the residence of the fleeing suspect, Kunle Fatai, led to the recovery of the suspected human skull, which was concealed in an uncompleted building adjacent to his house. The recovered skull has since been documented and registered as an exhibit.

The Command stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

It added that the arrested suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the Osun State Police Command assured residents that it would ensure everyone connected to the case is brought to justice while maintaining public confidence in the rule of law.
