The Ogun State Police Command has arrested six suspected criminals and recovered firearms during a series of intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing criminal activities across the state.

 

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended in separate operations conducted by tactical teams following credible intelligence and surveillance activities. The operations formed part of the command's ongoing efforts to combat armed robbery, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other violent crimes.

 

Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the recovered exhibits included firearms and ammunition allegedly linked to criminal activities. He noted that the arrests were made in different parts of the state as officers intensified security operations to ensure the safety of residents.

 

The command disclosed that preliminary investigations connected some of the suspects to cases of armed robbery, unlawful possession of weapons, and other criminal offences. The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with further inquiries.

 

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State reaffirmed the command's commitment to maintaining law and order, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.

 

He also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid crime prevention and detection.

 

The police assured residents that intelligence-driven operations would continue across the state to rid communities of criminal elements and enhance public safety.

 

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
