The Nigerian Army has approved a major redeployment of senior officers, announcing fresh appointments across operational commands, training institutions and Army Headquarters as part of efforts to strengthen national security and improve operational effectiveness across the country.

The redeployment was approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and affects 19 senior officers, including General Officers Commanding (GOCs), field commanders, commandants of military schools and principal staff officers at the Army Headquarters. The changes are aimed at enhancing the Army's capacity to respond to evolving security challenges nationwide.

According to the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the strategic reshuffle is designed to reinforce leadership across key formations, improve operational readiness and ensure greater efficiency in the discharge of the Army's constitutional responsibilities.

Among the appointments, Major General S.A. Emmanuel was named Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command, while Major General O. Adegbe was appointed Director of Intelligence at Army Headquarters. Other senior officers were assigned to various operational divisions, training institutions and strategic departments across the country.

The Army said the redeployment forms part of its ongoing commitment to repositioning the service for improved performance in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other emerging security threats, while enhancing professionalism and operational effectiveness across all formations.
