The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, held a strategic meeting with representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) on the proposed domestication of a Specialized Executive Master's Degree Programme in Counter-Terrorism Investigation at the Nigeria Police Academy.

The meeting, attended by Assistant Inspectors-General of Police Patrick Atayero and Uche Ifeanyi Henry, focused on advancing the academic integration and institutional adoption of the programme as part of broader efforts to strengthen counter-terrorism investigation capacity and enhance law enforcement education in Nigeria.

Discussions centered on developing a sustainable framework for implementing the specialized postgraduate programme within the Nigeria Police Academy, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for advanced training and professional development in combating emerging security threats.

According to participants, the initiative is expected to equip law enforcement personnel and relevant stakeholders with the knowledge, skills, and expertise required to effectively investigate, prevent, and respond to terrorism-related crimes.

The engagement highlights the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, the NUC, POLAC, and UNOCT to fostering institutional collaboration, enhancing specialized investigative capabilities, and promoting global best practices in counter-terrorism education.
